As an employer or person responsible for premises, you have a legal duty to manage health and safety risks associated with exposure to Legionella bacteria. This includes ensuring that a suitable and sufficient Legionella Risk Assessment has been completed, and that all necessary control measures for your water systems are implemented, monitored, and maintained on an ongoing basis.

You must also ensure that any actions or recommendations identified within the Legionella Risk Assessment are addressed, which may include remedial works where required. Water sampling should also be carried out where appropriate. All monitoring, maintenance, and control activities should be accurately recorded within a site logbook, and responsible personnel should receive appropriate training in the control and prevention of Legionella bacteria.
